Cynthia Harbison Burkhart

Cynthia Harbison Burkhart passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023, in Sacramento, California. She was born on December 5, 1950, in Morganton, North Carolina to the late Leighton Harbison and Ruby Deaton. Cindy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Special Education at the University of Kentucky, where she met her late husband, Enos Burkhart. They raised their family in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Herndon, Virginia. Last year, Cindy moved to Northern California.

Cindy is survived by: her three daughters, Melissa Burkhart of Richmond, California; Sarah Burkhart Savage (Dale) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and grandsons Grayson and Harrison; Melody Burkhart of Tucson, Arizona; foster daughter Hannah Friedel; sisters Cathy McKinney (Harold), Elaine Hathor, and Celia Garr (Bryan); brother Scott Harbison (Beth); and numerous other loving family members and friends around the world. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family invites family and friends to attend a Celebration of Life service at Sossoman Funeral Home, 1011 S. Sterling Street, Morganton NC 28680, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9.
