Born in Oakland, CA and graduated St. Elizabeth High where he was elected Student Body President and Class Valedictorian. Upon graduating from U.C. Berkley, he was commissioned in the Army and sent to Korea. He served as a Public Information Officer assisting in press coverage of the massive prisoner exchange (“Operation Big Switch”) and commencement of peace talks at Panmunjom. He then graduated U.C. Bolt Hall School of Law and commenced a 32 year distinguished career as attorney with the State Dept. of Transportation. He served as a trial attorney making court appearances in more than 20 of the State’s counties. He also acted as legislative representative for many years. He ended his career as Asst. Chief Counsel responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 4 offices of the Legal Division. 

Preceded in death by Marian (Jackie), his beloved wife of over 56 years and by his late brother John. Survived by his 3 loving children: Michael, Daniel and Elizabeth; sister, Cecilia; daughters-in-law: Laurie and Vicki; and grandchildren: Michael, Alyssa, Ayden and Camryn. 

Friends are welcome for visitation at W.F. Gormley & Sons Chapel, 2015 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, Friday, January 24 from 12:00 noon – 4:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Church, 3159 Land Park Drive, Sacramento on Saturday, January 25, at 11:30 AM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be private. Remembrances in his name may be made to the charity of your choice.
