Ruby Yvonne Anderson, age 83, of Sac, CA, passed away on March 3, 2024. In cherished memory of Ruby Y. Anderson, a remarkable Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, and Friend. Ruby's unwavering determination, dedication, and brilliance illuminated her path as she pursued and earned her Master's Degree from Sacramento State University while nurturing her three accomplished sons. Her grace, strength, and boundless compassion radiated through every facet of her life, from her professional endeavors to her daily interactions. Ruby's innate wisdom and foresight in parenting were truly ahead of their time, shaping her children with profound love and intellect. Her quiet, yet profound strength left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Ruby's devotion to her family and her work was unparalleled, as they held the closest place to her heart. While she is be deeply missed, her memory will be warmly cherished by all who were blessed to know her. Ruby is survived by her three sons and grandchildren, ensuring that her legacy will endure for generations to come.

Ruby is survived by her three sons, Peter, Patrick, Paul, and her sister, Antionette Cabral-Shaw. She was preceded in death by her father Mack Shaw, mother Mitty Shaw, sister Mary Williams, and sister Shirley Shaw. Ruby made history as the first African American woman and first woman hired as the Willows County Sheriff. She also served as Chief of Staff for Lieutenant Governor Dymally and Allan Cranston, as well as a lobbyist for St. Johns Lutheran Church and a political coordinator for SEIU State Council.

In her free time, Ruby enjoyed watching her sons grow, traveling, discussing politics, listening to blues music, and reading books. She worshipped at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Ruby's memory will be warmly cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
