Robert John Christenson

Longtime Sacramento resident Robert J. Christenson Jr. passed away surrounded by his family on December 28, 2023, after a brief illness. Bob was born to Robert and Edna Christenson in Sacramento, CA, on October 13, 1947. Outside of a brief period in Oregon at Willamette University, Bob resided in California near his beloved mountains of Lake Tahoe, the bay of Marin County, and the banks of the American River. Bob began his career in residential construction in Tahoe City and transitioned into commercial building with the Moana Corporation. The highlights of his career were serving as the project manager on the construction of Skywalker Ranch and later as the COO of Panattoni Construction. In 2010, toward the end of his career, he was honored to serve as President of Associated General Contractors of California (AGC). A lifelong outdoorsman, Bob loved skiing, sailing, cycling, golfing, fly fishing, and walking the neighborhood with his sweet and energetic Australian Shepherds. He treasured time spent with his wide circle of friends and colleagues. Bob is survived by his best friend and wife of 50 years, Nancy, brother David Christenson (Susanne), son Matthew Christenson (Jessica), daughter Cari Dauphinais (William), and grandsons Jack and Ryan. A memorial service honoring Bob will be held on January 16, 2024, at St. Ignatius Church at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to a charity of choice, First Tee of Greater Sacramento, or the American River Parkway Foundation.
