Robert E. Carroll

Sacramento, California - Bob passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2021, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born June 27, 1929, Sacramento, CA to Frank and Marie (Nealis) Carroll in Sacramento. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean (McConnell) Carroll, son William Carroll, and brother James Carroll. He is survived by his sister Marion Peckinpaugh, children Frank Carroll, Steve Carroll (Julie), Ann Pieri (Steve); grandchildren Julia, Scarlett, Katherine, Michael, Audrey and Jack; and great grandchildren William, June and Olive along with many nieces and nephews. Bob will be greatly missed by his family.
Bob was a life-long learner with an impressive memory. He had a passion for world history, politics and learning about other cultures. He would surprise others when he would say hello or thank you to them in their native language. He would find out where they were from, write down phrases in their native language and keep these notes in his pocket for quick reference so he could surprise them in passing.
Our dad was loving, generous, had a great sense of humor and was one heck of a card player. He loved spending time with family, loved a friendly competitive card game after dinner and loved to cook. Now that he has given up his seat at the table, someone else will finally have a chance to win a card game or two.
Instead of flowers, his family asks that you do an unexpected and random act of kindness in his name.
There will be a family gathering to celebrate his life at a yet-to-be-determined date in the future.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Siva, Tina and Lina for their exquisite around-the-clock care and the Sutter Care at Home Hospice for their responsive support for both Bob and his family during his graduation to the next life.
