Rebecca Marie Doolittle
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Sacramento, Rebecca Marie Doolittle passed away peacefully, aged seventy-four. Rebecca is survived by her husband of forty-four years, John Doolittle, and loving children, Alicia Doolittle, Julia Doolittle, and Margaret Woodson. She was a devoted grandmother to Maya and Aiden Robertson, as well as to Charlotte and Brooklyn Woodson. Born and raised in Sacramento to Julio and Refugio Resendez, Rebecca had close ties to the community. She was an alumna of St. Francis High School, and California State University, Sacramento, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in music, and teaching credential. She went on to work as a Spanish teacher for twenty-five years, fifteen of them at Luther Burbank High School. She was committed to providing a valuable education to countless students, while raising three daughters, dedicating herself to their success in sports and school. She enjoyed travel, cinema, spending time with her extended family, and doting on her grandchildren and beloved Maltipoo, Daisy.
A memorial service will take place at W.F. Gormley & Sons, 2015 Capitol Avenue, on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity that Rebecca faithfully donated to for many years to support the care and treatment of children with cancer.
