Patricia R. Ambrose

Patricia “Patti” Rebecca Ambrose passed away on December 1, 2019, after surviving six years with metastatic breast cancer.  Patti was born on August 3, 1957 in Sacramento, the first of six children of Pat and Lou Ambrose.  She was a graduate of Rio Americano High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from UC San Diego.  Upon retiring from the County of Sacramento, Department of Human Assistance, Patti earned a second bachelor’s degree in nursing at CSUS and worked as an RN at High Desert and Folsom Prisons.  She continued her education while working at the prison, earning a master’s degree in nursing at UC San Francisco.  At the time of her passing, she was a PhD candidate at UC San Francisco.  Her life’s work, both professional and personal, was devoted to helping those less fortunate.  There was never a time when she wasn’t volunteering, donating, or marching to improve the lives of others.   Patti is survived by her children, Noah Ambrose and Ari Ambrose-Schluter, her parents Pat and Lou Ambrose, her five siblings Lou, Suzy (Jim), Amy (Koyo), Michael (Laura), and Jennifer (Ernest), nine nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019, at 2:00 pm at W. F. Gormley & Sons Funeral Home at 2015 Capitol Avenue in Sacramento.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood, Women’s Cancer Resource Center of Berkeley, or Loaves and Fishes of Sacramento.
