Millie was born in San Francisco and died on Easter Sunday in Roseville. She was a 4th generation Californian and a 92 year member of a pioneer Sacramento Family. Predeceasing Millie were her father, Bartley W. Cavanaugh, mother, Mildred Jacobs Cavanaugh, sister Margaret Cavanaugh Lyons, and brother, Bartley W. Cavanaugh Jr. She is survived by her devoted sister Florence "Ponnie" Cavanaugh, aunt Jackie Devine and godson C Flaherty Swanston. Also by her many nieces and nephews of the Cavanaugh, Dauber, Scurfield, Lyons Isbell, Fowler, Pena, and Jang families.
A graduate of the Holy Rosary Academy in Woodland, Millie went on to volunteer with Catholic charities. Millie overcame extreme adversity during her lifetime and faced these many challenges with grace and a feisty spirit. She accredited her ability to move forward to her tremendous religious and spiritual commitment to her faith. Whenever asked, "How are you doing?" She would reply, "Oh I could be doing a little better tryin' a little harder." A piece of advice we can all benefit from.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 27, at St. Rose's Catholic Church, 5961 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento. Remembrances can be made to St. Patrick's Home for Children, 5945 Franklin Blvd. Arrangements entrusted to W.F. Gormley & Sons.
