Michael “Mickey” Spencer Turpen died at the young age of 44 on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021. Mickey was born on January 15th, 1977 in Sacramento to the late Lillian E. Turpen and Michael J. Turpen, both of Sacramento. Mickey was a sixth generation Sacramentan from a historic cattle rancher and pioneer family. He was a descendent of Charles Swanston, who was known from the Mexican border to Nevada, Oregon and Idaho as one of the biggest cattlemen in California. His spirit lives on through his two beautiful children Chase, 8 and Bridget, 6 (mother, Chrissy). He loved his children more than anything in the world. He is also survived by his beloved father Mike (Heidi), 3 brothers Brannley Turpen of Seattle, Zachary Turpen of Sacramento (Marisol), Hud Swanston of Sacramento, and sister Samantha Turpen of Los Angeles. His beloved mother Lillian Turpen of Sacramento died of Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 57. He also leaves behind two nieces, Lillian, age 9 and George Ann, age 2 and a stepbrother, Tyler. Mickey was one of a kind. He was an avid duck hunter and true patriot. Mick loved getting his truck stuck in the mud during duck season at the ranch, shooting at empty cans with his 12 gauge, fine tuning his tri tip recipe and driving through the family ranch every week. Boy oh boy, did the ladies love him! Mickey had a heart of gold and made everyone feel appreciated. His infectious laugh and presence is already greatly missed by so many. Heroes get remembered but legends never die. There will be a full mass at St. Ignatius Church on Thursday August, 19th at 10am. Private burial at St. Mary’s at 1pm, immediate family only please. Celebration of life to follow and will be held at the home of Hud Swanston.
