Michael James Maestretti son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, and soldier unexpectedly died in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 17, 2023. Michael was born on June 24, 1988. He was the eldest of four children to Tim and Leisa Maestretti. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and Christian Brothers High School, graduating in 2006. Michael enlisted in the US Army. He earned the Physical Fitness Award, ranked as Expert Mortarman, and was offered the highest contract out of bootcamp – a Ranger Contract. He was deployed to Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged with the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, coupled with other distinguished awards. Michael loved playing sports and was a die-hard Raiders fan. He could often be found lying on the couch watching his beloved team in a Raider jersey, Raider hat, Raider scarf, and Raider blanket. Michael is survived by his mother, Leisa Maestretti; father, Tim Maestretti and his wife, Medielene; siblings, Ashlee, Madison and Dominic; grandparents, Clark Head and Linda and Jim Seivert; aunts and uncles, Jennifer Zanardi, Louise Maestretti, Joe and Rosemary Maestretti, Anna Baganz, Gus and Theresa Vina, Jerry Maestretti, Ted Maestretti (Heidi), and Thom Maestretti; godchildren, Olivia Zanardi and Boston Baganz; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Margaret Maestretti and his uncle, Andrew Head. Michael loved his friends and family and touched many lives, we invite you to join us for a Funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3159 Land Park Dr., Sacramento, CA at 11:00 a.m. on October 31, 2023, followed by a full military honors burial at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA at 2:00 p.m. Reception following at The Bank 629 J Street, Sacramento, CA (lower level). There will be a Rosary at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on October 30th at 7:00 p.m.
