Louis William Panos (94) passed away peacefully on September 25, 2019. Lou was born in San Francisco on February 1, 1925, to James and Lena (Derenzi) Panos.
Lou is now reunited and dancing in heaven with Olga, his beloved wife of over 65 years.
He will be deeply missed by his children Michael Panos (Kathleen) and Lori Panos Reis (David).
He was a proud grandfather of Holly Kerns (Darren), Rebecca Panos (Annalisa), Nicholas Johnston (Ryan), Michelle Goldman (Vincent), Vincent Johnston (Nichole), Mary Loy (Garrett) and great-grandfather of Cara and Emma Kerns, Evangeline and Adelaide Johnston, Eloise Goldman, Lillian, Vincent and Andrew Johnston and Wyatt Loy.
He is lovingly survived by his sister Betty Hepler, and friend and companion Helen Errecart.
Lou was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines. After moving to Sacramento in 1956, he was employed as the general manager of Sierra Spring Water Company. Lou maintained a life long friendship with the owner Ritz Naygrow.
After raising their family, he and Olga spent many wonderful years together traveling the world and playing golf. Lou loved gambling, running football cards, playing Chicago Rummy, but most of all playing bingo!!! Being a frequent winner, he was affectionally known as “Lucky Louie”. Lou’s legendary sense of humor always made him the life of the party!! He touched many lives through the years and will be missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 5th at 3:00 p.m. at the Heritage Park Clubhouse, 2481 Heritage Park Lane, Sacramento, CA 95835.
