Louis Edward Iseley was born in Fairmont, N.C. to the late John Henry Iseley and Lucy Powell Iseley on October 31,1934 and departed this life on February 15th,2024 at his home in Sacramento, Ca. at the age of 89. He was the youngest of five children, a sister and two brothers who proceeded him in death. He was married to Catherine B. Lee of Waco Texas. She and their son Maurice proceeded him in death in 2009.

Louis attended and excelled in school from an early age. He played trumpet in the school band, played basketball with his classmates and was an active boy scout member. As a young boy, he would watch military planes flying low in the area where he lived.  He knew one day he would be piloting a plane of his own.  He graduated Rosenwald high school with honors in 1951and entered A&T State University, Greensboro, N.C. in September 1951.

He studied biology and military science. He was an Air Force ROTC cadet and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and received a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He entered the military on August 3,1955 and was sent to Houston Texas for flight training. Louis completed his training and received his wings as a navigator. His duty was to fly in the F89 Jet fighter interceptor plane and prevent enemy aircrafts from entering the United States. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and served in Japan and the United States of America, honorably achieving the rank of Major. He said his military experience and training taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and honor. He served 14 years in the Air Force and received several commendations for his dedication. (NDSM) The National Defense Service Medal (SAEMR) Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, (Arem)Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, (AFLSA)Air and Space Longevity Service Ribbon, (W/2OLCs, AFOOa and HqATC) Valor and (AFCM) Air and Space Commendation Medal.

Louis retired from the Air Force after fourteen years of service and continued working for (FAA) the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller for 21years. 

He leaves to mourn his only brother Daniel Iseley, nieces Debra, Renee, Sharon, and a host of many relatives, and friends. He will be missed immensely.

Major Louis Edward Iseley, United States Air Force retired, will be honored and buried in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery next to his wife Catherine on March 18, 2024 at 2:00pm.
