Larry Pasion passed peacefully at his Sacramento home on November 5, 2024, at the age of 54. Larry was born Larry Knight to Laurie Jean Knight and Clemet Gene Kamelamela in Daly City, CA on December 1, 1969. Clemet was Hawaiian and Larry made many trips to Oahu. One visit was longer-term, when he worked at a Waikiki restaurant after high school. He remained close to the Kamelamela family throughout his life.
In 1976, his mother married Noe Pasion (from Laoag, Philippines), who adopted Larry, legally changing his name to Larry Pasion.
Clemet passed away in Hawaii in 1985 when Larry was a teenager. Noe and Laurie took Larry to the funeral on Oahu and during this visit Larry met his Hawaiian brothers, Eric and Matt Kamelamela. Larry fully embraced his Hawaiian family along with his Filipino family.
Larry has two siblings, Trina Marie Pasion, eight years younger, and Noe Joseph (“Joey”) Pasion, eleven years younger. You would hear constant laughter whenever they were together. They simply can’t help but be funny around each other.
Larry also has two half-brothers in his Filipino family, Taylor and Kyle Pasion, along with the two half-brothers in his Hawaiian family, Eric and Matt Kamelamela. Good things often come in pairs.
Larry attended Westmoor High School in Daly City, where he made lifelong friendships. After graduation, he continued his education and obtained programming, data security, and Microsoft certifications. He continued with classes to enhance those skills throughout his life.
Upon falling in love with Rebeka Huerta in 1994, Larry moved to Sacramento from the SF Bay Area.
They married in 1996, bought a home, and their son, the pride and joy of their lives, Sol Kalino Pasion, was born in 1999. Among the many things Larry taught Sol were tolerance, pay-it-forward generosity toward others, and of course, computer skills.
Larry worked as an IT specialist for various firms. He also built desktop computers and designed websites as well as helping friends and neighbors who relied on his skills at resolving computer problems.
Larry was consistently recognized as a kind, talented, friendly, and happy-go-lucky co-worker with a strong sense of humor. His can-do attitude was apparent to all with whom he worked, and he received high praise and recognition throughout his career.
Although Larry’s career was focused on software and computers, a love for cars grew stronger through the years and he owned several special vehicles – a Chrysler 300 (which, after his touches, won awards at car shows and was featured in DUB Magazine), a Corvette, and two Mercedes. A frequent phrase of Larry’s was “I’m a car guy.” He became expertly skilled at disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding not only cars, but everything in a house or garage.
In addition to Larry’s love for cars, he was a pet lover, and the family always had pets: cats, fish, parrots, turtles, eels, lizards and numerous dogs.
Larry is survived by his wife, Rebeka; their son, Sol; his mother Laurie; his father Noe (Charlene); siblings Trina, Joey, Eric, Matt, Taylor and Kyle; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He described himself this way:
Devoted Father, Dog Dad,
Car Enthusiast, and IT Guy.
I stay positive, and Pay it Forward ... ALWAYS.
