Sacramento, California – Kevin Robert Livingston passed away on April, 7, 2021 of cancer surrounded by loving family members. Kevin was born in Sacramento, CA on August 2, 1971 to Robert and Suzanne Livingston and the family moved to Carmichael, CA when he was three. His father predeceased him in 1987. He is survived by his mother Suzanne, his sister Kristi Dumais (Tony), nephews Christopher and Tyler and nieces, Samantha and Elizabeth.
Kevin was raised in Carmichael until he went to college at San Francisco State where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. After college he took his first job with the Idaho-Press Tribune in Nampa, Idaho. After working there for six months, he was challenged to write a special report (Eddie’s Story), that the newspaper published as a six-page special report about a child who was lost in the system. With this, he met with Idaho lawmaker which resulted in the laws of Idaho being changed. Kevin was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his work.
After coming back to San Francisco, he worked for the San Francisco Recorder for many years. Kevin also worked as Director of Public Relations for law firms in San Francisco, New York and Chicago. Kevin was a person who wanted to see the world. Starting with Europe where he worked for papers in Prague, Czech Republic. From there he started traveling the world. Kevin became a free-lance writer and that allowed him to travel to many countries including Nicaragua, Mexico, back to Europe and Asia. He also wrote articles for Forbes Magazine and the New York Times.
Kevin has maintained friends from all over the world starting with grammar school at Our Lady of the Assumption, many friends in the Sacramento/Carmichael area and also his many friends world-wide. He will be truly missed by all.
The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Carmichael, CA, 5057, Cottage Way, Carmichael at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the Church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the American Cancer Society.
