Joan Claire Chargin-Sloan

Joan passed away on January 12, 2024 peacefully, at her home in Sacramento, at the age of 90. Joan is the wife of the late John E. Sloan, who died in 2006. She was born in Sacramento to Anthony and Claire Chargin. Joan worked for many years at St. John Vianney School. She was an avid reader. In her earlier years, she taught at Military Bases in Germany and Morocco. She was a world traveler, and traveled to China, India, Thailand, Ireland and Italy, to name a few. She was a crossword puzzle fanatic, but also enjoyed her Poker Group, and loved dining out. You might have seen her shopping at Chicos occasionally! Her calendar was always full. She is survived by her cousins: Vincent Chargin, Bobby Chargin, Marion Chargin, Sharon Bendahan, Jennifer O’Brien, Debbie Starr, John Sayre, Mark Sayre, and Darlene Goldberg.

A Rosary/Vigil will be held at W.F. Gormley & Sons on Wed., January 24th at 5:30pm.

A Funeral Mass will at Sacred Heart Church, 39th & J Street, on Thurs., January 25th at 10:30am.
