Jesus Mendoza-Ruelas, 87, passed away surrounded by his family on April 30, 2024 in Sacramento, California. Jesus was born on December, 9th 1936 in Ayotitlan, Jalisco.
He was oldest of five children born to Gabriel Mendoza and Estefana Ruelas. He married his wife Esperanza Corona on July 4th, 1965 and together they settled in California with dreams of a better life, through hard-work and determination. Jesus will be remembered as a devoted father and family man who worked tirelessly. Despite any obstacles together they succeeded and shared their success with those around them. Family was their cornerstone and they instilled this value on their three sons.
In 1964 Jesus joined Laborers Local 270 Union and retired a proud member after 30 years. In retirement he continued working daily in his garden when he was not lending a hand to family members. His garden remains plentiful after his many years of loving attention. He would always share the bounty and was known for his homemade chili which was ever-present during meals. Throughout his life he hosted multiple generations of family in backyard gatherings that were filled with enjoyment and smiles. You would always find him on the grill cooking for all. He prided himself on making sure no one ever left hungry. His compassion earned him the respected name of Don Jesus.
Jesus was preceded in death by his wife Esperanza Mendoza-Corona and his brothers Juan and Elijio Mendoza. He is survived by his sisters Antonia and Celina Mendoza Ruelas, sons Gabriel, Victor and Jesus, grand-children Gracie and Diego Mendoza.
He will be missed, but never forgotten by those who he shared his home and heart with.
Jesus will be interred together with Esperanza at Calvary Cemetery.
Siempre estarás en nuestros corazones.
