In Loving Memory of Hope Reyes

September 23, 1929 – November 3, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Hope Reyes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her nurturing heart stopped beating and she departed this world on November 3, 2023 at the age of 94, surrounded by her children and the love of her family.

Born on September 23, 1929, Hope Reyes lived a life marked by unwavering love, compassion, and devotion to family. She was a source of strength and a source of inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to know her. Hope Reyes dedicated the early years of her life to raising seven children of her own, instilling in them the values of love, resilience, and the importance of family bonds.  She did so with very limited resources and an abundance of patience and strength.  She instilled in her children important values such as cooperation, understanding and the importance of giving to others.

After her own children had grown, Hope Reyes extended her nurturing spirit to another family, becoming a beloved nanny for a new generation. Her days were filled with laughter, joy, and the pitter-patter of little feet as she helped raise more children with the same care and tenderness she showered upon her own.

Her legacy is one of love that transcends bloodlines, as she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Hope Reyes was a model of reserved elegance, a comforting presence, and a pillar of support for those around her. Her wisdom, gained through a life rich in experiences, was shared generously with all who sought her guidance.

She is survived by six of her seven children, Vivian Auble, Rhonda Engellenner, Brenda Reyes, Ruben Reyes, Randy Reyes and Lori Madrigal-Vargas and their partners.  She lost her beloved son Ricky to cancer when he was 37 years old.  She will also be missed greatly by her 11 grandchildren, Miranda, Nathan, Joseph, Michelle, Andrea, Marti, Esteban, Raul, Maddison, Lena and Mateo as well as her great grandchildren, Audrey, Lily, Emma, Joaquin, Gustavo, Carter, Jordan, Isaiah and Nico.  Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.  A mass in honor of Hope Reyes' remarkable life will be held on December 11, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church located at 1040 39th Street in Sacramento. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating the life of a woman whose love knew no bounds.

May Hope Reyes rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that she so generously shared throughout her extraordinary life.
