Herbert Yook Hong Yin

Herbert Yook Hong Yin Sr., 99, was born in China, obtained his education in Hong Kong, returned to China to teach high school, and work for the local county government. He came to the United States in 1950 and spent most of his life in Stockton, California with his wife, Lisa, owning and running Herbie's Coffee Shop for almost 30 years, known for fresh and tasty comfort food, including his famous peach pie made from his own homegrown peaches. He also owned and operated several rental properties for more than 50 years in Stockton. Although he was quiet, he was known for forging long-term relationships with people, including his many customers and tenants. After retiring, he and Lisa traveled the world, including Tahiti for their 50th wedding anniversary. They moved to Sacramento, California in 2007 to be with their grandchildren: Cody, Elaine; and Kincy; who are his pride and joy. He enjoyed gardening, puttering around the house and lending a helping hand to anything that needed fixing. His family looked forward to holidays as he always prepared fabulous meals. Family was most important to him. He left this world on November 22, 2024, due to cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Yin of 67 years, children, Dr. Elaine (Mike) Yin, Ellen Yin-Wycoff, and Herb (Kristi) Yin Jr., and his 3 grandchildren, Cody Yin, Elaine Wycoff, and Kincy Yin.  

Friends and family are welcome to attend the viewing on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 4 - 5 pm at W.F. Gormley and Sons Funeral Home, 2015 Capitol Avenue. Sacramento, California and funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Noon at W.F. Gormley and Sons Funeral Home, 2015 Capitol Avenue. Sacramento, California.
