Herbert Lewis Johnston

Herbert Lewis Johnston, 79, of Sacramento, CA, passed away on March 11, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Herbert was born on October 17, 1943, in Sacramento to Georgia (Pansen) and Herbert Joseph Johnston. He graduated from Sacred Heart Parish School in Sacramento. He attended Armstrong College and Sacramento City College. He served in the US Amy between February 1966 and August 1968. He married Rita Joyce Weaver on September 29, 1967. He worked many years in banking in both California and the Midwest, most notably the Bank of California and the State Bank of Winfield, KS. He obtained a Masters in Banking from the University of Wisconsin. Later he worked from 1991-2008 for the Small Business Administration, holding different positions. He enjoyed card games, watching movies, reading spy novels and doing puzzles, especially with his grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Georgia Perez, his children, Herbie and Jonathan, and his grandchildren, Alba, Alex, Vincent and Lucas.

His funeral will be held on March 27, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
