George A. Cunningham

George passed away in Sacramento on January 5, 2021 at Mercy General Hospital. Born in Livermore, California on August 16, 1921 to George Albert Cunningham Sr. and Eva Rachel (Taylor) Cunningham. George was the Assistant Director of the Public Social Services with the County of Sacramento for 32 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalie Frances (Cuilla) Cunnginham, who passed in 2010 and his son, George Michael Cunningham, who passed in 2005. A proud graduate of Christian Brothers High School, class of 1940, where he donated generously. Following Christian Brothers, he went on to attend Sacramento City College and Arizona State University. He faithfully served in the Air Force, joining soon after finishing college, where he worked on a B-24 bomber. He will be missed by all those that cherished his friendship.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at W.F. Gormley & Sons Chapel, 2015 Capitol Ave., Sacramento, CA., 95811, from 11am-3pm. A graveside service on Thursday, Jan. 21 @ noon will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, where he will be interred next to his wife and son.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Christian Brothers High School, Brother David Brennan Scholarship Program, 4315 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95820
