It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank M. Perry (Pereira) of West Sacramento, California. Born on March 27, 1943, he passed away on February 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Frank was born in Sacramento and was a lifelong resident of the Sacramento area.
After graduating from high school, Frank began working for the Vans Supermarket chain in Sacramento. In 1966, he was drafted into the United States Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief. During his service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star with Valor. Upon completing his service, Frank returned to Vans Supermarkets and eventually became the general manager.
After leaving Vans Supermarkets, Frank dedicated his time to the family farming operation in Natomas, where he took great pride in overseeing the cultivation of fresh market vegetables, pumpkins, and gourds. His passion for farming made him a familiar face at Sacramento’s certified farmers’ markets, where he enjoyed chatting with customers. In 2010, due to declining health, Frank retired from active farming, but he continued to visit the farm regularly, offering advice on growing vegetables and pumpkins and caring for the farm cats, who he loved dearly.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank cherished his annual deer and elk hunting trips to eastern Montana and Wyoming. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Hogan; granddaughters Nicole and Olivia; sister Maria Cornelius (husband Jack); brothers Joe, Joaquin, and John (wife Coleen); uncle Martin Souza; aunt Carmen Shaffer; former spouse Betty Paine; longtime companion Cheryl Giddings; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lucille Perry (Pereira).
