Dona Breene Jablonsky

Dona passed peacefully January 8, 2024 in her residence in Sacramento California. Born in Dickinson North Dakota to Paul and Ann Breene, she was raised in Bismarck and  was the oldest of five children. She attended Bismarck High School and went on to study at Bismarck Junior College where she met the love of her life, her husband Steve, who after finishing his degree moved them to Sacramento CA.  Dona finished her studies after moving to Sacramento, earning a teaching degree from Sacramento State University.  She taught second and third grades for 30 years and was loved by her students and colleagues.  Dona retired in 1995 and began a life of travel with her husband and vast group of friends, spending large portions of their time in their beloved home at Lake Tahoe. After her husband passed in 2014, she continued her love of travel with her girlfriends in Sun City. Dona is proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, Steven Jablonsky.  She is survived by her sons Mike, David (Errica) and Carl (Julia), five grandchildren Angela (John), Sarah, Stevie (Mia), Sam and Caden, and three great-grandchildren Wyatt, Evan and Ellis.  Dona is survived by her sister Jean (Tim), and brothers Ken, Howard (Judy*), Rod as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was a devout Catholic and member of many parishes throughout her life.  Her candor will be missed by her many friends and family members.  

A celebration of her life, with mass, will be held Saturday, January 27th , 11:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1333 58th Street, Sacramento, CA 95819.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Brothers High School, 4315 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95820.
