Denise Desmond Franzoia

Denise (aka Nini, Gladys, or Toots), passed away suddenly in Sacramento, on September 14, 2023. She was the wife of the late Alfred C. Franzoia Sr. of 62 years. Mother to Alfred Jr. (Sue), Thomas, Michael (Anita), Mark ‘Yogi’ (Hilary), Linda (Erick) Feil, and Suzie (Walter) Rozewski. Grandmother of Lindsey (Justin) Morris and Allison (Kyle) Bergquist; Gabriel (Rebecca), Sam, Matthew, and Olivia Franzoia; Teresa, Andrea (Matthew) Etchepare, Mateo and Kristina Franzoia; Natalie and Mia Franzoia; Alexandria (Dustin) Hughes and Katina (Ryan) Gomez; Daniel and Vincent Rozewski. Great-grandmother of Cameron and Luke Morris; Jack and Theo Bergquist; Ben Franzoia; Declan, Finley, and Stevie Kira Hughes; Hensley Gomez. Denise is survived by her sister Mary Sweigert Mastalski and sister-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Desmond, cousins Sally Swanson and Wendel Flint, nieces, nephews, and numerous family members. She now joins her parents: late Senator Earl and Edna Nicolaus Desmond; her brothers Richard (Doris), Louis (Geraldine), Michael, sister Clare Lagomarsino and brother-in-law Cass Mastalski; son Yogi and son-in-law Erick. A graduate of Immaculate Conception and St. Francis High School, and a fifth generation Sacramento native. She was a member of the Sacramento Pioneers Club, a Past President and active member of the Dante Club Ladies Auxiliary, and a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish. A domestic engineer, always ready to serve meals to anyone who came into her home, especially when vacationing in Santa Cruz. She was outspoken, social, well traveled, worldly, and a ‘grande dame’. She will be missed by her many friends and family members.

All services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary: Thursday, September 28th, 6:00pm. Funeral Mass: Friday, September 29th, 10:00am.
