Renata "Delores" Kunz was born on April 25, 1931 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Antonia (Miller) and Alex Riede, who immigrated from Germany. At the age of 6, the family moved to New Salem, North Dakota where she started school eventually graduating from New Salem High School in 1950. She met and married Elmer Kunz in Mandan, North Dakota where they resided and started a family. The family moved to Sacramento in 1961 to join her sister's family. She was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, an accomplished organist for many decades. She worked seasonally as a proctor for the State Examination Board. She enjoyed baking, canning, and cross stitching; truly treasuring her time spent with family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Elmer of 62 years as well as her son David who died in 1988. She is survived by her son Kenton, his wife Marina and her grandchildren Tim, Chris and Kaitlin.
