David James Weeks

David James Weeks, born on November 22, 1955, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication. David’s life was one of service to others, beginning at the young age of 16 when he began volunteering at Ralph Richardson School with special-needs children. This marked the beginning of a lifelong calling that led him to serve as a healthcare assistant for 43 years at the San Juan Unified School District.

David was widely known and loved for his genuine care and commitment to the children he worked with. He was not only attentive to their physical needs but also nurtured their spirits, bringing joy, laughter, and creativity into their lives. He and his fellow staff members would often perform skits and bring beloved characters to life, with his mother, Julia Anne, helping to craft costumes like dinosaurs and Aladdin. David’s theatrical talents added a magical touch to his work, creating moments of fun and enrichment for the children, and his artistic gifts further brightened their worlds.

David’s compassion extended far beyond his professional life. He cared for many special-needs children and their families, including Chad Nunez, Samuel Barth, Jacob Sahota, and Olivia Dodaro offering his love and support to those who needed it most. David was also the devoted godfather to Christy and Ed Nunez’s children, Ryan, Todd, and Matt. He shared a deep bond with these children and their families, offering not only care but an unwavering presence in their lives as part of his chosen family.

Throughout his life, David was a source of strength and support for his own family as well. He faced the loss of his father, Jerry Weeks, when he was just nine years old, and later, he was a selfless caregiver to his mother, Julia Anne, during her battle with ALS. He also cared for other elderly family members, including his Aunt Kathleen and Stepfather Jerry Martin, showing the same love and devotion to his family that he shared with so many others.

David was predeceased by his father, his three brothers—John, Alan, and Russel—his Aunt Kathleen, and his uncle’s John and Don. He is survived by his youngest brother, Robert Weeks, and his wife, Shannon, as well as two sisters-in-law, Lisa Weeks and Debbie Weeks, and five nieces—Rachel, Breanna, Erika, Sarah, and Kayla—whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his Aunt Gwen and Uncle Jim, their children Jennifer and Deborah Rose, and their five grandchildren—Zachary, Lukah, Nathan, Lauren, and Alyssa—who will miss him greatly.

David’s impact on those around him was immeasurable. His love, compassion, and generosity touched the hearts of countless people, and his memory will continue to live on in the lives he enriched. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that David is now at home with Jesus, safe and at peace.
