Andrew Thomas Hyder

Andrew Hyder was born on March 7, 1982 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and passed away unexpectedly in Sacramento on May 6, 2021, at a young 39-years of age. His untimely death has been nothing short of devastating for the family he leaves behind. A loving husband and father, Andrew's young family has been his entire world and he was on the verge of celebrating his 6th wedding anniversary, and days after marking the 4th birthday of his eldest son, his youngest child is not yet even 2-years old. Andrew was deeply loved by everyone who knew him. He brought unmatched joy and genuine smiles to anyone who crossed his path, and was always up for a get together, to grab a beer, or listen to music and dance the night away. Andrew was a thinker who always wanted to make time for others and connect with the people around him, a real friend in every way. His unassuming and humble demeanor made him easy to be around and he forged countless friendships around the world during his time on this earth. In his professional life, he was well-respected and highly regarded for his "hacking" skills, and led the way in civic tech, with a true passion and commitment to helping people, while wanting to leave his mark and make the world a better place. His innovation and leadership has inspired those following in his footsteps, and he's left a permanent mark on co-workers and colleagues, who fast became his loyal friends and extended family. He was also known as the "fun uncle." Andrew never hesitated to play with his nieces and nephews, and was quick to try to answer any questions they threw at him, or share and teach them all about what he enjoyed in life, like snowboarding, fishing and his knack for typography. He cared about the environment, the community and was constantly committed to doing the right thing, lifting people up and fighting for social justice. Andrew truly was a shining example of someone who embodied what is right about this world, and his absence is a true loss for humanity. Andrew will always be remembered with complete love and admiration, not only for being a one-of-a-kind generous soul, but also because he was a strong, yet caring man with a pure heart of gold. His beloved memory and spirit will forever live on in the legacy he leaves behind with his sons, and everyone made better by knowing him. There are no words to accurately describe the depths to which Andrew is loved, and just how much he will be faithfully missed.
