Alice Rose Kimsey

Alice Rose Kimsey, 93 years old, passed peacefully in Roseville, California on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. 

Alice was born in Oakland, California on February 28, 1930 to Vincent J. Strei and Rose J. Strei [Dunn] Alice married William H. Kimsey on  November 1, 1952 in Sacramento, California. Alice was a long-time Sacramento resident, graduating from Sacramento High School, and then graduating from Sacramento State University. Alice was very involved in all of her communities. She worked for a number of years as a playground director for both the Sacramento and Rancho Cordova Park Districts, she was a music teacher at the Cordova Pre-School, she also coached Girl’s Softball and was a Bluebird leader. Alice served many years in a variety of capacities for the Cub Scout and Boy Scouts of America organizations. She was very proud of her accomplishments and the many accolades and awards she received for her work with Scouting. Alice worked at the California Franchise Tax Board for over 20 years before retiring in 2000 as a Staff Services Analyst. Alice and her husband, William H. [Bill], lived in the community of Rosemont, and then Rancho Cordova, where they raised their children and lived for 47 years. Alice is survived by her five children; William P. Kimsey [Jennifer], Michael T. Kimsey [Linda], Mary E. Smith [Keith], John F. Kimsey, and Joseph P. Kimsey. Alice is also survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Christian [Chris] of Roseville. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent J. and Rose J. Strei, and her husband, William H. Kimsey, May 26, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Shannon Kimsey [Michael], and Danny Kimsey [Joseph]. Alice’s cousin James Strei and his wife Gloria also preceded her in death. Funeral services are scheduled on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Gormley and Sons Funeral Home, 2015 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95811. The funeral service will be followed by a noon internment ceremony at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA 95820, where Alice will be interred with her husband, William H. Kimsey.
