Born in Tanuato, Michoacan, Mexico, on January 27, 1917, lived most of her life in California, died peacfully on Jan. 26, 2012, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted wife of Delta farmer and labor contractor, Trinidad, for 38 years until his tragic death in a car accident in 1975. They worked together on community projects such as building of Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church. She was a faithful supporter of Trinidad's goals to inform Californians about Mexican culture by creating the first Mexican cowboy group, Asociacion de Charros de Sacramento, and creating programs that displayed traditional Mexican costumes, folk music, and dances. She shared her faith in the Cursillo Movement in Sacramento. Proceeding her in death were her parents, two sisters and two brothers. She blessed the lives of five surviving children and their families: Teddy Schnetz(Bob), Art(Helen), Trinidad Jr., Reuben, and Yolanda Sanchez Peterson(Dennis), fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Also surviving, her youngest sister, Carmen Arroyo, and a loved sister in law, Connie Settle. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family and God, love of singing, (she had a beautiful voice), gardening, nature, travel, and serving great Mexican food to friends and family. The family thank the caring workers of Gramercy Court for caring for Esther for several years, and assistance given by the Vitas Hospice Group in the last several weeks. Rosary/wake will be at 7pm at W.F. Gormley & SOns Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 2. Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 10am, Friday, Feb. 3rd.
