Bryte Johnson

Died on September 10, 2011 at the age of 76 in the company of his family after a valiant battle with lung cancer. He was a fourth generation Sacramentan, born on June 24, 1935. He graduated from Sacramento High School and UC Berkeley, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. His career as a stockbroker spanned over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Ethel Johnson, brothers, Morgan and Jerry, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of 47 years, daughter Camille Benvenuti, son Bryte, Jr. (Joy) of Connecticut, sister Georgeann Beckett (Bill) of Orinda, and three grandchildren, Riley, Abigail, and Beckett. He was active in the Sutter Club, Grandfathers Club, Sacramento Pioneer Association, Raccoons, Tahoe Maritime Museum and the Gatekeepers Historical Museum. His favorite times were summers spent in Lake Tahoe with family and traveling with friends. Bryte was an avid reader and also enjoyed old cars and wooden boats. Friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Bryte's life at the Sutter Club, 1220 Ninth Street in Sacramento on Tuesday, September 20th, at 4:00 p.m. The family requests that any remembrances be sent to the Tahoe Maritime Museum or the Sacramento Children's Home.
