It is with a profound sense of grief that our beloved and adored husband, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, godfather, friend and coach, Joseph Gregory Verderber, made his transformation from an angel on earth to one in heaven on Friday December 2nd, at the age of 54. Joe was born in Washington, PA on March 6th, 1957 to Joseph and Mary Helen Verderber. His early life read like an adventure novel growing up in a military family living in places as diverse as London, the Philippines and throughout the U.S. If there was ever anyone with a true servants heart, it was Joe. He continuously put the needs of others before his own, willing to lend a helping hand day or night. In the early nineties, Joe met the love of his life, Kathi. Rarely was there a moment in their years together that Joe was not at Kathis side, expressing his deep love for her in ways that few men ever do. Joes devotion and love for his nieces and nephews added much joy and wonder to their lives through many glorious adventures and memories. Joe had a strong faith in God; there were few who lived in a more Christ-like way than he. The hole he leaves in the lives of those whom he loved unconditionally is inconceivably vast--his beloved wife Kathi, his mother Mary Helen, his sister Rebecca, his nieces Melinda, Delaney, Corey and Natalie; his nephews Joe, Sam and Adrian; his brothers and sisters-in-law Brent and Mary Ann, Tom and Clare; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, his cherished golden retriever Louis, his dear Curtis Park Friends and the many friends who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. The relationships that Joe nourished with his family and friends will continue to bloom, providing inspiration, strength and love Joe took great pride in working for the County of Sacramento, Department of Regional Parks for the past 25 years. Prior to his work with the County he worked with the family landscaping business. Joe gave generously of his time serving as an Eppies Great Race Committee Member and volunteering for organizations dear to his heart serving individuals with various abilities (Special Olympics Northern California, Therapeutic Recreation Services and Camp ReCreation). You came along like a song and brightened our day A Mass in celebration of Joes life will be held on Monday, December 19th, 10:30AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Sacramento.
