NIELSON, Wylie Macfarlane (1926-2011) Passed away on July 29, 2011. Wylie was born on March 16, 1926 in Santa Barbara, Ca. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and served with the 96th 'Deadeye' Infantry Division, E Company, 2nd Battalion in Okinawa and the Phillipines. Later, he had a 21-year career as a senior illustrator for the Army. After retiring from the Army, Wylie married his beloved wife Adele Marie Lee in 1967 and worked for the State of California as a senior graphic artist for many years. Wylie was a talented artist, avid gardener, and history buff. He and his wife Adele enjoyed traveling and shared a love of arts and crafts. Wylie is survived by his stepdaughter Marie-Ann Lewis (Bill) and granddaughter Katie. He is deeply missed by his nephews Ed Collins (Nancy) from Pleasant Hill, Mike Collins (Ruth Ann), Bruce Koehler (Dori), Mark Koehler (Katie), Chris Koehler (Grace) all from Santa Barbara and niece Pam Lichtanski from Monterey. He is forever remembered by a host of great-nieces and nephews, family and friends. There will be a memorial mass in his honor on August 8, 2011 at 11:30 am at St. Anthony's Church , 660 Florin Road, Sacramento, 95831. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
