Robert was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Dunham and Grace Austin on September 30, 1919. Beloved husband of Janet E. Austin over 64 years. They were married on December 27, 1946. Bob was raised in Detroit, Michigan with his late brother, Jerry Austin. He went in the Service in 1941 and was stationed at Mather Field for 4-1/2 years. He graduated from the Pasadena Playhouse and also Cleo Radio School. He became a Disc Jockey at K.S.D.O. in San Diego and later on the morning Radio Show with Jan and Bob in San Diego. He moved to Oakland where he was a broadcaster with KTVU television and then retired to Newport Beach for 27 years until coming back to Sacramento in 2004. He is also survived by his nephew, Robert K. Austin of Goodyear, Arizona, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial that was offered for the repose of his soul at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1017 11th Street. Tuesday, October 18, at 9:30 AM. Entombment followed at East Lawn Memorial Park on Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento.
