In Sacramento, Thora passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 13, 2012. A native of Kozani, Greece, Thora was born to parents Demetrius and Fotini Kozaki on December 28, 1931. She came to America in 1969 where she met and married Tom Manikas, who preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed by her beloved son John T. Manikas (Andrea); sister Katherine Daskalakos of Athens, Greece; grandchildren Thomas John & Chryssa Marie; nephew and godson, John G. Manikas (Gina); niece Exaveria Rula Manikas; nephews Vangelis Daskalakos, Nikos Zissopoulos, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Greece; godson Christopher Rotas, great-nephews George and Antonio Manikas; sister-in-law Athanasia Manikas; and dear family friends and kumbaree Nick & Carol Rotas and their children: Christina, Nicholas & Katherine Rotas; and dear friends Marie Bravou and Mahdis Golshani. She now rejoins her husband Tom, parents, and her brother Yiani Daskalakos, who preceded her in death. She was known for her wonderful Greek cooking, and she always had a special place in her heart for the many friends and children that came into her life. Friends are welcome to attend the Trisagion at W.F. Gormley & Sons, 2015 Capitol Ave. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 6:30PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Alhambra Ave. at F Street, Sacramento, CA. Interment, East Lawn Memorial Park.
