Robert O. Spears

Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, born May 5, 1935 in Raleigh, NC, passed away at the age of 76, December 20, 2011. Robert is survived by his Wife Leslie Spears, Children Tamara Spears (Becky), Charles Thornton (Michelle), Grandchildren Nicole Spears and Courtnee Thornton. Robert was preceded in death by his Parents Wiley and Belle Spears, Son Robert Spears Jr. and Granddaughter Marissa Thornton. Robert attended North Carolina State before entering the United States Air Force performing the duties of an in-flight radar operator, based out of McClellan Air Force Base. He retired from the Local 340 Electrical Union after 36 years of service. He was the President of the Colonial Acres Little League which merged with the Tahoe-Tallac Little League where he was Vice President and later became the District 7 Administrator for the Majors. Robert and Leslie would have celebrated their 36th Wedding Anniversary this January 11, 2012. Friends and Family are invited to attend a service at W.F. Gormley & Sons Tuesday, December 27th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
