HAMATANI, Wilma Jean 'Jeanie' Jeanie was born November 19, 1925, in Chicago, IL, to James and Eunice Sponsler and was peacefully called home on February 25, 2012, in Sacramento, CA. She was a Registered Nurse by profession and worked at hospitals in Springfield, IL, and Honolulu, HI. She worked at Sutter General Hospital for 10 years, prior to meeting her late husband, Peter, whom she was married to for 33 happy years. She also now rejoins her parents as well as her brothers, the late Dwane and Delano Sponsler. She is survived by her brothers Twain Sponsler (Sharon) of Oakford, IL, Gwin Sponsler of Petersburg, IL and James Sponsler (Mary Lou) of Bremerton, WA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Motoye Hamatani of Sacramento, her brothers-in-law Osamu Hamatani of Galt, CA and Minoru Hamatani of Yuba City, CA, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was a lover of dogs and birds. She raised pedigree weimaraners and parrots. She was devoted to her miniature fox terrier, 'Misty.' She will be sadly missed by her family and a large circle of friends. A special 'Thank you' to all the people at Saylor Lane rest home who took such excellent care of her during the past 10 months. Rev. Msgr. Brendan O'Sullivan will preside over a Mass of Christian Burial which will be offered for the repose of her soul on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 11:00am, at St. Anthony Church, 660 Florin Road in Sacramento. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name may be made to Loaves & Fishes or to a charity of choice .
