The family of Buss Roberts is sad to announce his death in Sacramento, on March 11, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Lucille, two daughters Amanda Gourley and Jennifer Sterling, son in-law Steve Sterling and grandchildren Chad and Drew Sterling and Kate Gourley. Buss was the son of Alvira (Stead) and Norman Roberts. He was born in Portola, CA and was raised in San Jose and Alameda, CA before the family moved to Oroville in 1942. Buss graduated from Oroville High School in 1943, and then served in the United States Marine Corp, upon returning to Oroville, Buss pursued his passion as a teacher and administrator in the Oroville Elementary School District for 33 years. He served on the Butte County and Oroville City Planning Commissions, the Oroville City Counsel and served as Mayor. He was also a member of the Fellows Club. Buss was involved with the development of Table Mountain Golf Course, Co- Generation Plant and numerous other businesses. Buss loved Oroville and was very devoted to the community. Buss was a partner in the RX prune ranch in the Sacramento Valley for 20 years and loved farming. Buss enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and spending time at Bucks Lake. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed. There will be a memorial service at Saint Thomas Church in Oroville on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 with reception to follow in the Reception Hall.
