In Sacramento, on March 19, 2012, she died peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Marlyn devoted her entire life to her family and spent tireless hours putting them before herself. She was an accomplished seamstress, cook, and so enjoyed her time in the garden. Marlyn along with her family also successfully owned and operated Newbert Hardware, a Sacramento fixture for decades, until its closing in 1993. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Glen T. Vanderford and son, Carter A. Vanderford. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Pamela Vanderford, and grandchildren, Scott A. Vanderford and Lindsay A. Vanderford Androvich. She will also be missed by Nancy Manning, Janie Raju, grandson-in-law Joseph Androvich, and her beloved dog Zoe. She now rejoins her parents the late Marjorie and Richard Fitzgerald. Marlyn was a native Sacramentan of 88 years and will be truly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched. Please join the family for a Memorial Mass at St. Francis Church (26th & K Streets) where she and her husband Glen were wed in 1944. The service will be on March 26, 2012, at 11:00am with a reception following at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club, 3951 N Street in Sacramento. Private interment will take place at East Lawn Memorial Park.
