Richard J. Siggins was born December 11, 1927 in San Francisco and passed away gracefully at home in Sacramento on September 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by parents Martin (Pat) and Lucy Siggins; brother Philip J. Siggins; and sister Patricia Bartolero. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Brown Casey; sister Mary Alice McNaughton (Gerald); children Elizabeth, Rick (Molly White), and Patrick (Tisa Meer); adored grandchildren Katherine, Patrick and Chauncey; stepchildren Charles Casey (Joen Traeger) and John Casey (Robert Esparza). Dick cherished and will be deeply missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He graduated Sacred Heart Cathedral High School ('45), St. Mary's College ('49), and Hastings College of Law ('56). A third generation San Franciscan, Dick rarely went somewhere without running into an old friend. He retired from the law practice he loved at Gudmundson, Siggins, Stone and Skinner in 1998. President of the San Francisco Police Commission 1976-1980. An avid handball player for decades and a proud member of the Olympic Club until his death. Member of numerous other associations, including the Serra Club, American Board of Trial Advocates, and a founding member of Sons of the Shake. Since retirement, Dick was actively involved in St. Vincent de Paul in both Marin County and Sacramento. A Vigil service was well attended at St. Monica's Church in San Francisco on Sunday at 5:30pm. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Monica's on Monday at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to All Hallows St. Vincent de Paul at 5500 - 13th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95820.
