After a long illness Jim passed away 10/20/2012 at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Sacramento December 7, 1944 Jim lived his entire life but for 1 year in Sacramento. He attended Christian Brothers High School and Sacramento City College where he was an outstanding baseball player. He was inducted into the Christian Brothers La Salle Club Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009. Jim was a 27 year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department taking a disability retirement in 1997. Jim is survived and remembered fondly by his wife of 47 years Patti and his children and their families Helen McCloy of Nigeria: John, Collin, and Duncan; Colleen Masterson of New Jersey: Bill, Liam and Sean and Andy Fox: Stefanie, Abbie and Drew; his siblings, Maureen McRandle (Bill) Rail Road Flat, Tom Fox (Caroline) Sacramento and sister-in-law Gwen Matthews, Fresno. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Katherine Fox and his sister Theresa Vernaza. Many thanks to his friends who lent moral support during his long illness, his hospice nurse Tracy and his doctors at Kasier Hospital. Friends are welcome to attend a Vigil service on Thursday night at 7:00pm, at W.F. Gormley & Sons Chapel, 2015 Capitol Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for the repose of his soul on Friday (10/26) at 11:00am, at Immaculate Conception Church, 3263 1st Avenue. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
