Mary Manly passed away peacefully at her home in Sacramento on December 30, after a long battle with cancer. Mary was born in Fairhope, Alabama, on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama. In 1974, she moved to Merced, California, where she met and married Donald Loeffler. She became an associate with her husband as a Private Investigator. In 1992, they moved to Sacramento, where they later retired. Mary was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sacramento where she served as a lector. Mary was an avid reader, photographer, cook, seamstress, and student of the Spanish Language. She and Don traveled extensively throughout the world and loved to spend time together on the coast. Mary leaves behind her beloved husband, Don; daughter, Susan Michelena and husband, John from Longwood, Florida; daughter, Nancy Erwin and husband, Bill from Greenville, S.C.; daughter, Sally Griebel and husband, Don from Ashville, N.C. She also is survived by her sister, Nancy Brawley, from Merced, California. She had a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and her parish family at St. Francis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Manty; and her grandson, Randy Rohrer. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Quadro, his staff and the chemo nurses who provided excellent, tender and loving care throughout her treatment. Services at St. Francis Church are pending.
