Carmen Vandercook

Born 1/27/1912, passed away on 1/20/2013, just short of her 101st birthday, surrounded by immediate and extended family members. She was born and raised in El Salvador, Central America. She immigrated to the US about 1945 where she met and married Earl Vandercook, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Edward Vandercook, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Vancercook. She is also survived by her sister Victoria Lobo. Also preceded in death by her beloved sisters and brothers, Alberto, Attillio Gustovo, Miguel Modesto and Rafelita. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews; stepchildren; step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. She was an active member of her church, Holy Spirit Parish. Throughout her life she assisted, sometime sponsored, family members and friends in immigrations and assimilating to the United States. She continued to make new friends throughout her life who remained very special to her. Special thanks to Pioneer House retirement community and its skilled nursing unit and staff. She will be greatly missed by family & friends. Visitation at 6:30, vigil 7pm, Friday, January 25, at Gormley & Sons, 2014 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento. Interment preceded by a mass will be at 1:30pm, Jan. 26 at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st Avenue, Sacramento.
