Edith Joyce Casey

Joyce Casey, formerly Joyce Dorian, died peacefully in her own home on Feb. 9, 2013 at the age of 81. She is loved and forever cherished by her 5 daughters, Rita Jones, Julie Rosenberg, Margaret Anderson, Mary Cunningham, and Carol Hono; ten grandchildren Michael Cook, Diana Layous, James Cunningham, Stephanie Chenowith, Casey Nagasako, Kathryn Reynolds, Jacklyn Rosenberg, Phoebe Hono, Zachary Hart, and Mia Cunningham; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Joyce was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 2, 1931, the youngest of seven siblings to Ward and Nell Casey. She moved to Sacramento in 1945, graduated from McClatchy High School, married and raised five daughters in East Sacramento. She was a loving mother who always made family her top priority. Joyce loved to golf, bowl and travel. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends including her longtime companion, Rudy, her pet pug. A Rosary was held on Tuesday Feb 12, 2013 at 7pm at W.F. Gormley & Sons CHapel, 2015 Capitol Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered for the repose of her soul on Wed. Feb 13 at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th Street. Private interment.
