Louise Pimentel Alameida

Born on December 14, 1925, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Louise passed away peacefully in Sacramento on March 18, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph T. Alameida, Sr. and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Alameida and her grandson Peter O'Ran. Survived by her loving children Joseph Alameida, Jr., Diane Figone (Bob), Debbie Haley (Bob), Susan Kaplan, Dave Alameida (Patty), Laurie Menchaca (Martin); grandchildren Kim, Kelly, Somer, Micah, TJ, Joey, Kristie, Michelle, Jamie, Mackenzie, Jared, and Emma; great-grandchildren Jonathan, Jacob, Santo, Tanner, Paityn, and Ellie; and best friends Ray and Myra Gonzales. Also preceded in death by her brother Walter, sister Marie and survived by her sister Penny. Loved and adored by numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Louise grew up in Kiamuki, Hawaii with her mother Magnolia, brother Wait and sisters Marie and Penny. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1943. Her vocation in life was to become a nun. However, in 1941 she met the love of her life, Joseph Alameida. Her 'Buddy' stole her heart. They were married in 1946 and Louise began her career as a full time wife and mother. Her family and faith were the most important things to her. As a military wife, Louise traveled to Japan, Illinois, and California, moving nine times before settling down in Sacramento. In Japan she took flower arranging and doll making classes. The Japanese dolls she made from 1957-1960 are still in her home. Louise was an active member of St. Mary's Parish in Sacramento, working for many years as a volunteer at the annual Parish Festival. She also volunteered numerous hours at St. Francis High School and Jesuit High School. in addition, Louise held part-time jobs at the McClellan Air Force Base BX, the Sacramento State Child Care Center, and worked for Bishop Alden Bell of the Diocese of Sacramento. Louise loved to cook for family and friends and was well known for several of her 'famous' dishes. But her greatest pleasure was being the #1 fan at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Her devotion to her husband and family was what made Louise so special. Aloha 'Oe, until we meet again, Aloha 'Oe. Friends attended a visitation on Monday, March 25, from 1:00 to 7:00 pm at W.F. GORMLEY AND SONS, 2015 CAPITOL AVENUE, SACRAMENTO, CA. Rosary and Vigil Service was immediately following visitation at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, March 26, at 10:00 am at ST. MARYS CHURCH, 58th and 'M' Streets. Interment was private. Remembrances may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation , 9310 Tech Center Drive, Suite 250, Sacramento, CA 95826.
