Istria Maria Lopez-Alvarez, 78, of Sacramento, California, passed away on April 18, 2013. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 25 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Elk Grove, California. Fr. Leon Juchniewicz of Good Shepherd Catholic Church will be officiating. Friends are welcome to attend a Vigil service on Wednesday, April 24th at 7:00pm, at W. F. Gormley & Sons Funeral Chapel, 2015 Capitol Avenue. Private interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. Istria was born in Havana, Cuba on May 28, 1934. She was a long-time member of the Legion of Mary of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Istria is survived by her beloved husband Luis, grandchildren, Marissa and Natalie, brother Otto Escoto, sons Jose and Ignacio, daughter-in-law Irma and other family and friends.
