Mary passed away on May 14, 2013 after a long illness. She was born April 26, 1925, in San Diego, California, as the middle child of John and Estelle Feeny. She was a seventh generation Californian, descended from J.M. Machedo (I), who arrived in 1782 with the expedition that founded the city of Los Angeles. Mary met Robert Kelly at San Diego State University, married him in 1949, and moved to Sacramento that year. She taught at the old Donner Elementary School in Sacramento until her two sons, Donald (Mary) and Michael (Diane) were born. Bob, who was an executive for Cal Western Life Insurance Company, preceded Mary in death in 2001. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Christopher, Amanda, Patrick, Robert and Jonathan. Mary began a lifetime of charitable service as a child, working with family members on soup and bread lines during the Great Depression. She volunteered for many organizations in Sacramento and was a Charter Member of the Assistance League of Sacramento for 40 years, serving a term as its President and was also a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Memorial donations may be made to the Assiatance League of Sacramento for the support of "Operation School Bell."
