Dorothy Schank (Cook)

Born January 11, 1926 in Sacramento to William and Charolotte McGinnis Cook- a second generation native Californian. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Sacramento Junior College, Mercy College of nursing, was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. A Registered Nurse until 1988, she retired after 15 years with Sacramento Co. Dept. of Health. She also worked numerous places as a RN while traveling in the USAF, for 17 years with her husband, the late Major Edward Schank. A member of California Nurses Association. She is survived by her son Patrick and 2 daughters Donna, and Jackie, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, sister Audrey Stefani, preceded in death by her brother James Norman Cook. Friends were invited to attend a Rosary at 9:30 am followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, on June 1st at St. John the Evangelist Church, 5751 Locust Avenue in Carmichael, CA. She was laid to reside beside her husband at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sacramento.
