Bernice Paine

Bernice passed away peacefully on May 29, 2013 at age 89. Born January 4, 1924, in Pinconning, Michigan to Theodore 'Fred' Holloway & Hadwiga Benczarski, immigrants from Ukraine. The youngest of 13 children, she was the last surviving member of her parents' family. She was united in marriage to Andrew Paine on October 21, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. As the wife of a career military officer, she set up housekeeping in Carmel, California; Vienna, Austria; White Plains, New York; Munich, Germany; Baltimore, Maryland and Sacramento, California. She was a resident of Sacramento for forty-seven years, during which she was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clarksburg, California, and worked at the Sacramento Food Bank. The ultimate homemaker, she was devoted to her husband, her children and her grandchildren, all who will miss her deeply. She leaves Andrew, her beloved husband of 63 years. She will be deeply missed.
