Amelia Winters

Amelia Winters, the daughter of Salvador Oseguera and Catalina Benitez, was born February 2, 1921 in Cotija, Michoacan, Mexico. As a child she immigrated to the United States where she resided most of her life in Los Angeles. However, she never lost her deep love of Mexico and returned as often as possible. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Winters as well as by her two brothers, Salvador Benitez of Duarte, California and Jaime Oseguera of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Amelia had two children, Walter Havron, deceased January 4, 2011, and Patricia Gandara of Los Angeles, CA. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (husband Gary), her daughter-in-law Yvonne, and grandchildren Adrian, Alexis, Gabriel, Jaime, Wayne, Chris, and Kathleen whom she loved dearly, and 11 great grandchildren. Amelia had a strong, optimistic character and would allow nothing to stand in the way of attaining her goals. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Church in Sacramento where she found many dear friends, whose generosity and support she greatly appreciated. Friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial. Amelia was laid to rest next to her husband at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
