Albert Parrish Pepper, Jr. was born in Selma, Alabama on January 21, 1944. He turned loose of the rope and ended his long battle with cancer on Sept 18, 2013. He loved life and fought hard. Nevertheless, he passed peacefully and with grace. Al (Sonny) grew up in Salisbury, North Carolina and graduated from Boyden High School (the Incomparable Class of 1962) and UNC-Chapel Hill (1966). He moved to California in 1976 and spent 20 years in Aptos where he was a businessman and member of Thee Club Club. He moved to Sacramento in 2002 and was a member of the Sutter Club and the Grandfathers Club. He is survived by his loving wife Karen Hullin, her children Margaret McKinnon (Bob), Charles Dunbar (Clarice), and Chris Dunbar (Paige), his daughter Alison Pepper-Schroeder (Fredrick), and grandchildren Oriana and Odin Pepper Schroeder, Megan and Charles McKinnon, Taylor and Lorance Dunbar, Miles, Lilly and Annabelle Dunbar. He is also survived by his mother Frances Pepper, his brother Jim Pepper (Jane), nephew Guy Pepper (Laurie), and nieces Amy Glass (Kelly) and Carrie Morrow (Dave) of North Carolina. A private family memorial has been planned. Al specifically requested that in lieu of flowers, you enjoy a nice bottle of wine with family and friends and toast his passing. "After all, it's been a lovely cruise."
