On Tuesday, September 24th, Tom Koewler passed away peacefully with his children and beloved wife, Margaret, by his side. He was a lifelong Sacramento resident, born at home to Genevieve and Albert Koewler on March 13, 1922. He is a member of the graduating class of 1940 of Christian Brothers High School. Tom served in the South Pacific during WWII aboard Patrol Craft 579 from September 1942 to February 1946. Upon his return, Tom married Margaret Zehnder. He was a partner in Sacramento Rendering Company. He was a member of the local Grandfathers' Club. Together for 67 years, Margaret and Tom had six children. Tom is preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Christine Koewler-Thorn, his daughter-in-laws, Candace Koewler and Debbie Koewler, his sisters, Koreen Russell and Genevieve Donaldson and his brother, William (Bill) Koewler. Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret, and his five children, Richard, Carolyn Diamond (Franco), Steve, Jeff, Janet Reilly (Clint). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, September 28, 11am, at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th Street.
